Morning Joy Yoga

Why do Yoga? The answer is simple, yoga makes you feel better.

Morning Joy Yoga is not all things to all people. We have chosen to concentrate teaching Hatha Yoga, a form of yoga introduced by Yogi Swatmarama, a Hindu Sage of 15th century India. Traditional Hatha Yoga is a holistic yogic path, including disciplines, physical postures (asana), purification procedures (shatkriya), poses (mudra), breathing (pranayama), and meditation. The Hatha Yoga predominantly practiced in the USA consists of asanas understood as physical exercises. It is also recognized as a wonderful stress-reducing practice.

Yoga: “a poise of the soul which enables one to look at life in all its aspects evenly.”

Yoga: “the means to the realization of one’s true nature.”

Yoga: “a union, an alignment, a path, freedom, liberation, peace, knowledge, a healing…”

No one is wise from birth, for wisdom results from one's own efforts —Krishnamacharya

Our Yoga

Morning Joy Yoga is focused on bringing you “Hatha Yoga” the most widely practiced form of yoga in America. It is the branch of yoga that concentrates on physical health and mental well-being. Hatha yoga uses bodily postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation (dyana) with the goal of bringing about a sound, healthy body and a clear, peaceful mind.

Yin Yoga: Yin yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga with postures, or asanas, that are held for longer periods of time—for beginners, it may range from 45 seconds to two minutes; more advanced practitioners may stay in one asana for five minutes or more. Yin yoga poses apply moderate stress to the connective tissues of the body—the tendons, fascia, and ligaments—with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. A more meditative approach to yoga, yin aims at cultivating awareness of inner silence, and bringing to light a universal, interconnecting quality
